5700 Watt Marine Solar System for 53 foot Lagoon Catamaran
We had an inquiry to spec out and supply a solar system for a 53 foot Lagoon Power Catamaran in Spain. The goal was to greatly reduce the daily time the genset runs.
We worked in close collaboration with the owner and worked through what all could fit and where on his catamaran solar system, with a goal of 5500 watts of renewable solar energy. We eventually were able to get 5720 watts installed, on including rail mounted Sealeafs marine solar panels.
Solar Array Configuration on the Lagoon Catamaran
We did four separate solar arrays, all with walkable marine solar panels designed for durability and performance in harsh marine conditions.
⚡️ Array 1: The first array was twelve 325 watt walkable marine solar panels for a total of 3900 watts. These all are run into a Victron Smartsolar 250/100 solar controller. They are wired in six sets of two in series and the six sets are then wired in parallel.
⚡️ Array 2: The second array is six 165 watt walkable marine solar panels for 990 more watts. These are wired in two sets of three in series and those two sets of three are in parallel. All six marine solar panels feed into a Victron Smartsolar 250/85.
⚡️ Array 3: The third array is two 260 watt walkable marine solar panels in series into a Victron Smartsolar 150/35.
⚡️ Array 4: The fourth and final array is two rail mounted Sealeaf panels at 110 watts each for 220 more watts, run into a Smartsolar 100/30.
