Bolt + Magnet Mounting Kit for Large Flexible Solar Panels – Bimini & Canvas

Secure large flexible solar panels to a canvas bimini, dodger, or other suitable marine canvas surface with a combination of bolt-on and magnetic mounting points.

This kit provides six total mounting points for large flexible solar panels with four corner grommets:

• 4 bolt-on mounting points using the panel's four corner grommets
• 2 supplemental magnetic mounting points positioned between the corner mounting points

The result is a more distributed mounting configuration without adding holes or additional grommets to the solar panel.

⚙️ What's Included

Bolt-On Hardware

• 8 stainless steel fender washers
• 8 stainless steel small washers
• 4 stainless steel bolts
• 4 stainless steel nuts
• 4 nylon locking nuts

Magnetic Mounting Hardware

• 4 high-strength rare earth magnets
• 2 adhesive tabs (to attach the magnets to the upper side of the flexible solar panel)
• Optional double-sided adhesive tape for secure placement

Four magnets provide two supplemental magnetic mounting points, with two magnets used at each point.

The Bolt + Magnet Mounting Kit is designed for mounting large flexible solar panels to:

• Canvas biminis
• Dodger tops
• Boat canvas enclosures
• Other suitable marine canvas surfaces

It is particularly useful when a large flexible solar panel has four corner grommets but additional support is desired between the corners.

🔩 Bolt-On Installation

The bolt on kit contains  fender washers, washers, nuts and bolts.  Refer to diagram to see how the components are assembled. 

1. Place the solar panel on the canvas where it is to be mounted.  Give it time to be warmed by the sun and nestle into the canvas. 
2. Mark each of the grommet holes on the canvas. 
3. Puncture the canvas at one of the grommet locations with a hole punch or sharp object (nail, awl, or ice pick).  A heated punch will fuse the Sunbrella fabric fibers together strengthening the hole area. 
4. Place a fender washer onto the ¾” 10-24 bolt and (optional) apply a small amount of adhesive or silicone around the bolt. 
5. Insert the bolt with fender washer through the canvas. 
6. Apply a small amount of adhesive or silicone around the bolt sticking through the canvas and place a fender washer on the bolt. 
7. Tighten a 10-24 nut on the bolt securing the canvas between the fender washers. 
8. Place a small washer onto the bolt (optional). 
9. Slide the panel grommet over the bolt, place a second small washer onto the bolt and secure the assembly with a lock nut. 
10. With one grommet in place inspect the hole positions for the other grommets to be sure they are in the correct position. 
11. Repeat steps 3 through 11 for each solar panel grommet. 

🧲 Magnetic Mounting

The magnet mounting kit contains 4 high-power rare-earth magnets and 2 pieces of 
double-sided tape.  Refer to the diagram below to see how the components of the kit are used. 

1. Attach 2 magnets to the top of the solar panel using the double-sided adhesive dots provided.
2. Place the solar panel on the canvas where it is to be mounted. Give it time to be warmed by the sun and nestle into the canvas. Be sure panels are positioned such that the wires can reach where necessary to connect to the other panels. 
3. Attach the second set of 2 magnets to the underside of the canvas by holding the magnet in the vicinity of the upper magnet. They will find each other. If the magnets repel each other turn the magnet over. A pair of magnets are most effective if they are separated by the panel and a single layer of canvas. 
   
4. Connect the solar panel to your system using an MC4 T-branch connector.
